Frequently Asked Questions

Is the ProPlay Fitting System USGA Approved?

Does it make sense for me to buy just a glove or just a grip by themselves?

Why do you offer gloves with both a straight line (referred to as “Standard”) and a split line (referred to as “Elite”) mark on the glove?

Can I choose a glove in a certain color and size?

Your product is color coordinated so that the grip size matches the glove size. What if I have big hands and short fingers (sometimes referred to as a cadet size)? I would not want a bigger grip.

I have more than 12 clubs in my golf set. What if I need more grips but don’t need 2 packs for a total of 24 grips?

Is the ProPlay Fitting System a training aid?

1) Is the ProPlay Fitting System USGA Approved?

We submitted the ProPlay Fitting System to the USGA for an official ruling. In June of 2007, we received confirmation from the USGA that our product “Conforms to USGA Rules” per decision 2007-450.

2) Does it make sense for me to buy just a glove or just a grip by themselves?

Not unless you are buying a glove or grip as a replacement glove or grip to the ProPlay Fitting System. The key word here is System. The glove and grip are meant to work together. Indicator lines on the glove match up with indicator lines on the grip to ensure proper hand placement on the club swing after swing. Our product is sold in packs which include 1 glove and 12 grips. Our grips and gloves are also sold separately so when you need to replace them because of wear, you can do so. Also, if your bag holds more than 12 clubs, you may need to purchase a couple extra grips to go along with the pack.

3) Why do you offer gloves with both a straight line (referred to as “Standard”) and a split line (referred to as “Elite”) mark on the glove?

For beginners, juniors, and people with poor grip positions, the straight line is their first glove. This is because it is much easier for a person to understand the concept of one line to one line than to try to match up a straight line to a split line. The position you take with this is still a good one visually. To a good golfer, however, it may feel like it is a little too much in the palm (a little too strong). As you get confident with the grip, you can then advance to the split-line (Elite) glove which puts the club more in your fingers than in the palm of your hand. Either way, we are eliminating 40% of your learning curve by providing you with the perfect grip right from the start. Elite or Standard

4) Can I choose a glove in a certain color and size?

The system is color-coordinated. First you pick your glove size. Then you choose the color-coordinated grip that corresponds to your glove size. For instance, the Ladies Medium glove is pink which would mean I need to choose the grip with the pink markings. The men’s Medium/Large size is green so the glove will have green markings that match up with the green markings on the Men’s M/L grip.

5) Your product is color coordinated so that the grip size matches the glove size. What if I have big hands and short fingers (sometimes referred to as a cadet size)? I would not want a bigger grip.

The gloves are cadet fitting. Start by picking the glove that fits your hand. Then instead of choosing the color-coordinated grip, you may want to choose a grip that is one or two sizes smaller than your glove size. Please note that the bottom mark (V marking) on the grip may not line up at the right length for the bottom hand, depending on what grip size you choose. The bottom V mark, however, will still serve as a good reference point for the position of your bottom hand. Other than that, mixing colors does not affect the performance of the product. To order select the Grip Pack based on the glove size your want and at checkout in the comments area state that you want grips one size smaller. or call us at 1877.980.3105.

6) I have more than 12 clubs in my golf set. What if I need more grips but don’t need 2 packs for a total of 24 grips?

Nowadays, people are buying their clubs in different groups; i.e., woods, irons, wedges, hybrids. There isn’t a need for the grip on a putter and you may choose not to put the grip on a sand wedge. Most complete sets come with a driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, irons from 3through 9, plus a pitching wedge for a total of 11 clubs. You can purchase an individual grip if you need a few extra ones to complete your set.

 7) How do I put the grips on the clubs ?

For this glove/grip system to work accurately, it is IMPERATIVE that you have the grips fitted properly. It is our strong recommendation that you have them fitted by a professional club fitter. You will find them at most sport stores and public and private golf clubs that sell golf products. Instructions for fitting the clubs are available on our website or you can click here to download a copy of the fitting instructions. Fitting Instructions

8) Do the grips come in different diameters?

That is the beauty of this system. The grip size is matched up with the glove size. What that means is that the dimension of the grip will get bigger with the size of the glove and the markings on the grip will change to accommodate the hand size as well. With a typical grip, the dimension of the grip is changed by the amount of tape that is wrapped around the club prior to putting on the grip. With our system, there is no need to wrap additional tape to increase the thickness of the grip since it is already built into the grip itself.

9)The club doesn’t feel right in my hands. Why?

Whether you are a high or low handicap golfer, you are used to grabbing the club a certain way. In most cases, for the higher handicap golfer, your grip position may not have been correct to start with and changing it will feel different. If you are low handicap golfer, you may feel that the grip may be a little too weak or a little too strong compared to what you are used to. In either case, you can line up the markings on the glove one line below the grip markings for a stronger grip or one line above the grip markings for a weaker grip. The markings on the glove and grip still serve a purpose in that they provide a reference point from which to start. Our standard line glove puts the feel of the club more in the palm of your hand whereas the elite glove puts the feel of the club more in your fingers which is the preferred feel for lower handicap golfers.
